Certificate and Diploma in Developmental TA
The ICDTA Certificate and Diploma in Developmental
- Transactional Analysis:have been designed with a practical emphasis so you get credit for the way you use TA to help others
- are set to equate to approximately the same level as typical postgraduate qualifications
- are equivalent to 25% and 50% respectively of the international TA qualification of Certified Transactional Analyst (so you can continue if you wish) Each level takes about one year to attain and requires you to:
- attend regular training and supervision sessions with internationally-accredited TA trainers - about 2 days a month
- use the TA you are learning to help others develop – personally, professionally, or with a focus on their teams or organisation – an average 2 hours a week
- read books and articles and write 4000 words to demonstrate your theoretical understanding
- produce several portfolios that illustrate your ways of working with TA
- and, for the Certificate, maintain a learning log
If you have already been studying TA with an internationally-recognised TA trainer (PTSTA or TSTA), you may well be able to count hours already spent, even if the trainer was a psychotherapist (limits apply for this category). Check this out direct with IDTA or with your chosen sponsor.
Fees are realistic - £205 to the IDTA for each level covers the costs of administering the scheme and marking your assignments (in addition to payments direct to trainers for the training and supervision they will be providing). Discounts are possible in economically disadvantaged areas of the world.
These new qualifications are aimed at all those who help others to develop themselves – or who want to be able to do so - including teachers, trainers, consultants, facilitators, advisors, mediators, coaches, mentors, counsellors, HR professionals, managers, executives - and any others who contribute to the growth of others, have responsibilities for bringing about individual or organisational change, want to create healthy corporate cultures, seek to facilitate great teamworking, aim to educate others to learn more effectively, work to help others form relationships, communicate skilfully and live more autonomously – and generally spread the TA message of OKness.
The qualification process offers you:
• an exciting opportunity to develop your professional competence as you apply TA understanding to what you do
• formal recognition of your competent use of TA – which can be shown on your CV
• the chance to benefit from the high international standards for TA training, without the need to commit to the lengthy international accreditation process
Developmental TA
Transactional analysis is a social psychology, a theory of human personality and a systematic approach for growth and personal change of individuals, groups and organisations.
International qualifications are available (via the ITAA and EATA – the International and European TA Associations) in four fields – Organisational, Educational, Counselling and Psychotherapy. The term Developmental TA has been adopted by the IDTA as this captures the emphasis on development rather than the psychotherapeutic focus on cure.
